NBC - 6 in the Mix produced a great piece on Page by Page, August 2018
Our PBP program teaches mainstream children the importance of literacy and philanthropy within all members of our communities. With adult supervision, we teach students to organize a philanthropic movement of their own creation and donate to underprivileged youth. Awareness of our community needs, along with our PBP Program, gives students direction, confidence, and empowerment to help others within their community. Nationwide, students who need community hours, philanthropic causes, and Boy/Girl Scouts have organized PBP Programs to better their communities!
The student run book drives allow Page by Page to give gently used books to deserving organizations. Each quarter we receive nominations from charitable applicants demonstrating a need. From the nominees, we choose one (1) charity per quarter for our Awards.
Caring for our community is our goal and we realize that education is essential for our books to come to life for a child. We award charities that work in conjunction with volunteers to engage children in literacy instruction programs which bridges the literacy gap between a child and a book.
Chapman Partnership was awarded two awards: our first quarterly award for 2018 and an additional award was donated in the 4th Quarter. Thank you to the nominating parties which allowed Chapman to be considered for this award, approximately 7,000 books were collected and delivered, with the help of a Girl Scout Troop!
Big Brothers Big Sister Miami was our 2nd Quarter Award recipient and received 3,000+ books to fill their library shelves! We were so excited to be a part of helping so many children on their road to literacy!
Read to a Child is a national literacy and mentoring non-profit that fosters a love of reading, improves literacy skills, and empowers underserved children by inspiring adults to read aloud to them regularly. Research proves that reading aloud to children is the single most important activity for enabling eventual success in reading and, therefore, likelihood for success in school and life. Read to a Child’s flagship Lunchtime Reading Program utilizes over 1,800 volunteers from more than 150 corporations nationwide who read aloud to 1,400 at-risk elementary school students in greater Boston, Detroit, Hartford, Los Angeles and Miami.
We awarded CARE Elementary a donation for the incredible work they do everyday for their students! Assisting the school fill their libraries was very rewarding. Their children were incredible and we also replenished libraries within each classroom.
